Pie Sharks
Justen Tjarks is the founder and creative force behind Pie Sharks, a Tri-Cities-based bakery redefining the pie experience with handcrafted miniature “Pites.” When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Justen returned to school to pursue a BAS in Applied Management at Columbia Basin College. While studying, he began baking traditional pies at home. With a strong dislike for waste, he used the extra dough and filling to create cupcake-sized mini pies to snack on while the bigger pie baked. That’s when he realized the little pies had the potential to become something more.
Those first test batches revealed a simple truth: miniature pies were better. They offered a more satisfying balance of crust to filling, were easier to share, perfect for events, and opened the door to bold, savory flavors like Jalapeño Bacon Cream Cheese. Pites became the centerpiece of a new culinary venture.
A United States Air Force veteran, Justen brings discipline, adaptability, and resourcefulness to Pie Sharks, which now operates out of the Pasco Specialty Kitchen and serves the Tri-Cities through local pickup, catering, and growing wholesale partnerships. With nostalgic roots and modern flair, Pie Sharks delivers big flavor in small packages. So don’t be afraid to try something new, and “TAKE A PITE!”
